If you’re looking for a job in hospitality, it’s likely that you will work in or around a kitchen at some point in your career! With multiple levels of hierarchy and specialisms among chef jobs, suppliers, support and wait staff, the kitchen can be a busy and confusing place, especially when the job titles are in French! This hierarchy is actually referred to as the ‘French Brigade System’, and these traditional titles have been carried through to modern kitchens. Understanding the kitchen roles will help you have a better idea of where your position fits.
