We are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Assistant to join our Client's busy, creative, independently owned company. This is a collective of specialist literary agents, working across all areas of children's and adult publishing, art licensing and illustration for design and advertising - based in South London, with offices also in New York.

The Marketing Assistant, is a pivotal role in the business. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner and self-starter who has an eye for detail, the ability to provide excellent and intuitive support, and who will be able to work seamlessly across multiple tasks.

You must be: an efficient multi-tasker and team-player with English as a first language. A background in publishing is not necessary but a creative, team spirit is a plus. The office is based in Clapham Junction, so an accessible route within the hour is preferred.

You will be working across multiple departments, so the ability to adapt to various requests and team dynamics is important. You will take direction and multi-task with a degree of autonomy and integrity.

This is a busy and varied role, so someone with a passion for illustration and children's literature will be an ideal candidate.

Hours:  Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm

The Marketing Associate will:

  • Deepen our core current business and expand into all 4 divisions of the company.
  • Use all opportunities to Promote the Agency and its Artists

The Role:

Agency General

  • Create all Agency general campaigns and blogs
  • Update the film & TV rights Media Guide and call in the relevant book PDFs

Agency Emporium

  • Create weekly Emporium campaigns
  • Manage the Emporium Instagram account

Children’s Publishing Division - Trade

  • Create all trade campaign and blogs, proactively pitching new ideas and reporting on results 
  • Keep trade artists’ portfolios up to date: reviews, bestsellers, awards, new artwork
  • Schedule daily Instagram posts for the Children’s UK account
  • Manage the Children’s UK Twitter account, liaising with trade, commercial and Educational teams
  • Creating quarterly publication report, liaising with trade, commercial and US trade teams
  • Maximise opportunities to cross-promote trade artists’ news: book publications, awards, festivals, bestsellers, reviews
  • Coordinate any hard copy mailouts
  • Keep trade publishing contacts up to date on Campaign Monitor and Sparklebox
  • Manage The Alligator’s Mouth Award children’s book prize in partnership with The Alligator’s Mouth bookshop

 
Illustration Division 

  • Create all marketing campaign and blogs, proactively pitching new ideas and reporting on results 
  • Manage the Illustration social media accounts
  • Keep client contacts up to date on Campaign Monitor and Sparklebox
  • Coordinate any hard copy mailouts

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of two year's experience in marketing
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Energetic with a positive attitude
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office inc Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Mac and Social Media savvy
  • Basic Photoshop
  • Exceptional written English as you will provide a lot of written content
  • Previous writing and design experience in a fast paced environment
  • Creative with a flair for writing
  • Able to interpret an idea or concept and communicate it in a compelling way
  • Ideally with evidence of previous experience writing a blog or copy-writing
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience of content management systems, and social media management, in particular Hootsuite and Campaign Monitor
  • Energetic with a positive attitude
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Pro-active engagement with Bright’s custom built CRM (Sparklebox) and its new features
  • Previous marketing, writing and design experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to interpret an idea or concept and communicate it in a compelling way
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects
  • Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written with keen attention to detail and accuracy
